Privacy & data
What is collected
If you subscribe, an email address is stored, along with an optional first name, the page or article you signed up from, and a timestamped record of your consent. Nothing else is required.
Why it is collected
To send new publications and updates, and to unlock articles that require free registration. Emails are never sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing.
Consent
Consent is explicit and never pre-checked. The date, time and version of the consent text you agreed to are recorded with your record.
Analytics
Aggregate, non-identifying counts of article views, gate views and unlocks are recorded to understand which writing is useful. No advertising trackers are used.
Unsubscribe, access and deletion
Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can do all three yourself at any time on the unsubscribe and data page: stop emails, see the exact record held against your address, or delete it permanently. Deletion removes your subscriber record, unlock history and any saved interests immediately. You can also write to privacy@georgegoumpouros.com.
Interests
Topic interests can be recorded to make future emails more relevant. They are never requested during article unlock, and no interest is stored unless you choose one.
Cookies
No advertising or profiling cookies are set. Your email address may be stored in your browser's local storage so previously unlocked articles keep opening without asking again. Clearing your browser storage removes it. Full detail is in the cookie policy. Because only strictly necessary storage is used, no cookie consent banner is needed.
